Medical School: University of Washington
Favorite things to do in Colorado: Hiking, Backpacking, Skiing, Fly Fishing, Leaf-Peeping, Trying New Breweries, Finding New Single Track Rides
Why NCFM: I picked NCFM for both the broad scope of training in everything including clinic procedures, surgical OB, inpatient heavy hospital roles, its similarities in access to the mountains to where I grew up (although I was sold on >300days of sunshine compared to WA) and diversity of the community I now get to be part of here in Greeley.
Where I see myself after residency: I am searching for a practice with inpatient-outpatient mix, as well as OB in a smaller community in the mountain west.

Favorite things to do in Colorado: Hiking, backpacking, skiing, playing pickleball, spending
time with my husband and dog.
Why NCFM: I chose NCFM because I was looking for a program that offers strong OB training as a family physician. I also felt a strong sense of family and community when I interviewed which was important to me in a program.
Where I see myself after residency: I would like to practice family medicine with obstetrics, ideally in a mid to small sized community.
Wray Rural Program
Hometown: Bird City, KS
Undergrad: University of Kansas (Biochemistry)
Medical School: University of Kansas, Wichita
Favorite things to do in Colorado: Deer and pheasant hunting with my bird dog! Hiking and camping are also pretty fun when you can get the time/reservations.
Why NCFM: Some of the best full scope FM training on the planet and being able to do a rural tract close to my hometown means I basically get to start taking care of the people I grew up with in residency!
Where I see myself after residency: A career as rural as I can find is preferable, especially taking care of the farmers whose wives made them come in. Still making up my mind on the OB side of things, but otherwise cradle to grave care with some ER coverage!

Favorite things to do in Colorado: Weekend hikes with my husband and our sweet pup, Kiki. I also love trying all the new breweries - bonus if they have great food. I am always looking for the best cheeseburger!
Why NCFM: First and foremost... the PEOPLE! The residents, faculty, and clinic/hospital staff are some of the most caring people you will ever meet. They go above and beyond to ensure your well-being and education are put first. You also cannot beat the rigorous training of Greeley - including our high-risk labor deck, complex medicine service, procedure heavy ER rotations, high-volume clinic, and so much more!
Where I see myself after residency: Full-scope family medicine with surgical OB (in a rural/underserved area).

Why NCFM: I was looking for a program that would provide excellent full-spectrum training with lots of procedures and surgical OB. In interviewing at NCFM, and then again on my second loook, I felt very much at home among the residents and faculty. I am grateful every day that I am learning here.
Where I see myself after residency: I hope to return to rural Maine to provide full-spectrum care including surgical OB, inpatient medicine, and potentially ED medicine.
