Sterling Rural Program
Hometown: Wichita, KS
Undergrad: Kansas State University (Biology)
Medical School: University of Kansas
Favorite things to do in Colorado: Enjoy the 300 days of sun doing anything outside with my wife and dog
Why NCFM: I wanted full scope training so that when I finished if there was anything I didn’t see
myself doing I had the option to opt out rather than struggle to get the training needed outside of residency.
Where I see myself after residency: I want to do outpatient with scopes and the ability to travel to rural areas and incorporate inpatient medicine with peds.
Core Program
Hometown: Richmond, KS
Undergrad: University of Kansas (Exercise Science)
Medical School: University of Kansas, Salina
Favorite things to do in Colorado: Hiking and hanging out with my wife, our 2 dogs (Hank & Louie), co-residents, and their significant others
Why NCFM: I was most interested in an FM-OB fellowship equivalent residency program given my interest in surgical obstetrics along with my interest in full scope FM. NCFM provides all these opportunities that you are also able to tailor to fit your specific interests/needs once you sign at your future hospital. I saw that almost all NCFM residents go to rural areas after graduation which means that we truly train our residents to be well prepared for anything and everything!
Where I see myself after residency: I've signed to return to the hospital closest to my hometown in Ottawa, KS to practice clinic and surgical obstetrics.

Sunrise Program

Sunrise Program
Hometown: Atlanta, GA
Undergrad: University of Georgia (Cellular Biology)
Medical School: Nove Southeastern University, Clearwater
Favorite things to do: I love paddle boarding, international travel, photography, hiking, watching Georgia (UGA) football, exploring cities, breweries, and rollerblading
Why NCFM: I chose NCFM because I wanted a program that would train me to be confident across the full scope of family medicine including obstetrics. What made it extra special was the chance to care for patients at Sunrise, an FQHC that aligns with my passion for immigrant and refugee health and advocacy. Beyond the training and opportunities, it was the people that drew me in. Ultimately, I chose NCFM-Sunrise because I wanted a place that could truly feel like a home away from home, and that is exactly what NCFM has become for me.
Where I see myself after residency: I am hoping to continue working with immigrant and refugees providing obstetrical care as well as taking inpatient hospital shifts.

Why NCFM: The training and the patient population. Now as a third year I feel confident going into my rural job working outpatient, inpatient and surgical obstetrics care. The large immigrant population at NCFM was also a large draw for me to train here.
Where I see myself after residency: Full scope FM-OB. I will be doing outpatient, inpatient and Surgical obstetrics.
